After the latest, and most painfully chilling of the recent cold-fronts ripped through my temporary hideout in Washington DC early this week (freezing everything from our pipes to my face), I decided I would use this blog post to spit some Springtime in the face of Old Man Winter. And that my friends is how you end up featuring a Spring vegetable like asparagus in the middle of January!
Now for those of you thinking I’m not giving winter it’s due, this dish actually is an homage to the season in it’s own way. Not the growing season, per se, but certainly to it’s most culturally prominent colors (by western, Christian standards anyway). Red and green, the Christmas holiday fixtures, and of course, plenty of white for the snowy weather. Maybe it’s a stretch, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
